Affinity and Community Groups on Campus

ALANA Caucus

ALANA is an acronym for Africana, Latino/a/x, Asian & Pacific Islander, Native American, and All other Underrepresented Races and Ethnicities. The Hamilton College ALANA Caucus was established as a source of support and community for faculty & staff who identify with an underrepresented race and/or ethnicity. A primary mission of the group is to advocate for the retention and recruitment of of faculty, staff, and students who identify as an underrepresented race and/or ethnicity.

Group Q

Group Q is an informal association of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender faculty, staff, and administrators, and friends of same. Group Q serves as a liaison with LGBTQIA+ students on campus and their organizations, especially the Queer Student Union; promotes academic programming; occasionally lobbies for our interests; facilitates communication and organization if and when homophobic incidents occur on campus; and generally seeks to heighten the visibility of LGBTQ issues and people at Hamilton. HamFam

HamFam is an informal listserv group (HamFam@listserv.hamilton.edu) for faculty and staff to share information about local needs (e.g., baby-sitters, child care, doctors, contractors), re-purpose goods (clothing, furniture) or connect people to organize summer playgroups, tutoring, etc.
