Hamilton Annual Research and Travel (HART) Funds

Beginning in 2023-24, the College will provide faculty members with Hamilton Annual Research and Travel (HART) funds to support their professional travel and scholarly/creative work. Funds may be used to directly support pedagogical and scholarly or creative activities that promote a faculty member’s intellectual enrichment and allow you to grow as a teacher-scholar. Requests for research support should be submitted using the online form.

Priority for funding is given for the support of sabbatical leave projects and for projects by pre-tenured faculty whose start-up funding has elapsed. Next in priority are faculty not on leave, in the following order: associate professors, full professors without endowed chairs, professors with endowed chairs who have exhausted their allocated funds, visiting assistant professors, instructors, lecturers.

Dean of Faculty Grant Activities Fund

Hamilton College supports the ongoing engagement of its faculty members as researchers in their disciplines because we believe that our students are well served by the insights these faculty members can bring to their classrooms and by the awareness of contemporary developments in the field that these faculty members can share with their students. The Grant Activity Fund (GAF) provides support for individual faculty grant proposals to external agencies. The purpose of the fund is to encourage proposal development, strengthen submissions and to demonstrate institutional support for proposed activities. External Grant Support

The Office of Sponsored Programs in the Dean of Faculty’s Office and the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations in the Advancement Office cultivate and maintain relationships with sources of external support for projects consistent with the College's mission and priorities.
