Innovation Center
This $50-million, 41,000-square-foot facility will be equipped with best-in-class technologies and resources and will be situated between Burke Library and Taylor Science Center. Enabling work will begin in early September 2024 and continue throughout the fall before construction begins during the winter. The building is expected to open for classes in early 2027.
Sage Rink
Recent renovations include new exterior siding and roofing to address building envelope issues, mechanical and HVAC system improvements, new ice and refrigeration system, and new state-of-the-art boards and glass.

Safety, Lighting & Wayfinding
College Hill Road: Realignment of sidewalks and lighting improvements to create safer pedestrian access. (summer)
Main Quad: Installation of a new safety gate at the College Hill Road entrance to prioritize a pedestrian-friendly environment. (summer/fall)
South Campus Wayfinding: New signage to improve the experience for visitors attending events at Wellin Hall and other performance venues. (summer)
Lighting Enhancements: New crosswalk lighting at the Bristol Center (April/May) and enhanced lighting in the Millbank and Babbitt courtyards. (summer)
Academic & Student Spaces
Burke Library: A comprehensive energy performance upgrade (geothermal conversion, solar, and LED retrofits; summer) plus exterior cleaning and new main entry doors (May).
Bristol Center: A full refresh of Dwight Lounge, including new furniture, audio-visual system upgrades, and updated finishes such as floors, ceilings, and paint; waterproofing and resurfacing of the Bristol terraces, made possible by generous gifts from the Bristol Family. (summer)
Sustainability Enhancements
Root Glen: A major stormwater conveyance and management system is being installed south of College Hill Road to better protect the Root Glen from erosion. (April-July) Root Glen will remain open and accessible throughout the project.
- Note: The lot south of Elihu Root House will be closed April 6 - June 5.
Athletics & Performance Venues
Goodfriend Field: Full replacement of the field hockey playing surface. (May-July)
Wellin Hall at Schambach: Complete replacement of the stage flooring. (summer)
Energy Performance Contracts
As part of Hamilton's commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, the College has partnered with Siemens to reduce energy demand in two of its largest buildings. This work will significantly cut energy consumption and emissions while modernizing key campus spaces to operate more efficiently for generations of future students to enjoy, and support a more sustainable campus environment for current and future students.
Commitment to Campus Accessibility
Hamilton values accessibility as one of many forms of inclusivity and routinely makes improvements across campus and prioritizes accessibility with every major renovation. Additionally, the College has committed to budgeting $500,000 each year, on average, for accessibility-related projects. A few recent and upcoming projects are highlighted below.

Hamilton is committed to meeting or exceeding best practices related to sustainability. As part of the College’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, it plans to invest in energy upgrades to campus buildings, manage parts of campus to increase carbon sequestration in its lands, and continue to study and implement additional opportunities for emission reductions.
