Project Governance and Advocacy
Project Governance & Advocacy
The successful implementation of the Workday Student Information System at Hamilton College is driven by a multi-layered, collaborative team. From our Executive Sponsors providing strategic vision, to the Workstreams building the system, the Faculty Workday Advisory Group guiding academic policy, and the Ambassador Networks gathering campus feedback, this model ensures the platform meets Hamilton College's unique needs.
Project Leadership
The Workday Student Information System implementation is guided by a dedicated team of campus leaders and functional experts committed to delivering a system that supports the academic mission, enhances the user experience, and drives long-term institutional success.
Executive Sponsors
Executive Sponsors champion the Workday Student implementation at the highest level. They provide strategic vision, executive guidance, and institutional insight to support successful transformation. As visible advocates for change, they help drive campus-wide engagement and ensure alignment with Hamilton College’s long-term goals.
Steering Committee
The Executive Steering Committee plays a vital role in guiding the Workday Student implementation. Comprised of the project’s Executive Sponsors and senior leaders from across the College, this group provides strategic oversight, secures necessary funding and approvals, and ensures alignment with institutional priorities. By championing the project and supporting key decisions, the committee helps remove barriers, manage change, and promote campus-wide engagement.
Key Committee Responsibilities
- Securing funding and necessary approvals
- Authorizing major changes to scope, timeline, and deliverables
- Providing strategic direction to project leadership
- Prioritizing project goals alongside other institutional initiatives
- Supporting communication, transparency, and adoption across the College
- Reviewing design decisions and recommending policy updates as needed
Members
Functional Project Workstreams
Workstream Leads oversee day-to-day progress within their focus areas, guiding their teams to deliver on project objectives and timelines. They coordinate across functional, technical, and change management teams to ensure integration and alignment. Within the workstreams, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) bring deep expertise to the project, executing tasks, sharing insights, and contributing to key decisions that shape functional processes and outcomes.

Faculty Workday Advisory Group
This group of representative faculty members ensures that the Workday implementation supports academic policy and meets the specific needs of instructors and advisors. They serve as the designated point of contact for faculty-specific inquiries and provide critical feedback on academic workflows, such as registration and grading.
Ambassador Networks
Peer-to-peer advocacy is at the heart of our transition. Ambassadors are representatives from various campus offices and academic departments who share project updates within their areas and provide a direct feedback loop back to the project team.
