As a senior fellow, Julia Afsar-Keshmiri ’26 has amassed a network of scientists to further unravel the mysteries of brain development and neurodegenerative diseases. Through her fellowship, Afsar-Keshmiri has the opportunity to devote her entire senior year to her project, giving her a taste of life as a professional researcher.

Hamilton students Angel Apollos ’26, Ricaldo Lewis ’26, and Mia Wrisley ’26 partnered with Eileen Brinck, OHSWA recycling coordinator, and Alma Lowry, lecturer in environmental studies, to create the app modeled after the “Am I Recyclable” feature on OHSWA’s website.

In a moment marked by reflection and renewed connection, more than 120 Hamilton community members gathered in the Tolles Pavilion on Feb. 5 for the College’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dinner. Inspired by King’s vision of a “beloved community,” the gathering encouraged students, faculty, staff, and their guests to honor King’s legacy not only in word, but in practice across campus in everyday interactions.

In its second meeting of the 2025-26 academic year, the Hamilton Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa elected 16 additional members of the Class of 2026.

National and regional news organizations regularly interview Hamilton faculty, staff, alumni, and students for their expertise and perspectives on current events, and to feature programs and activities on campus. January’s news topics included coverage of Venezuela, paramilitaries, the job market, and friendship, among others.

For the 22nd consecutive year, Hamilton has been recognized among the colleges and universities with the most students selected for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. For 2025-26, 43 Hamilton students and alumni applied for the U.S. Student Program, and five received the grant. The recipients are pursuing Fulbright English teaching assistantships in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Spain.

A new semester also brought new students to Hamilton. This year, the College welcomed 50 January admits, commonly referred to as “Jans.” The newest arrivals on the Hill are wildlife conservation advocates, history buffs, and dedicated members of their communities—both at home and abroad.
