Happy 10th Issue, Glade & Glen!
IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE that we have already reached the 10th issue of Glade & Glen. What started out as a simple way to reconnect alumni with each other has turned into a labor of love (and words!) from our class correspondents, tribute (Necrology) team, and our staff, all of whom are dedicated to bringing you not just news of your friends but also a sense of all of the reasons you chose Hamilton and Hamilton chose you.
Every time I read one of these issues, I’m reminded of what a privilege it is for the College to have such distinguished alumni — and how fitting, since so many of you write of the enduring importance of what you learned on the Hill in the life you’ve led since you left. It’s hard to find just one reason why a Hamilton education resonates throughout your lives, but I believe one important thing is that you all strive to maintain your relationships with one another and with the College.
Your connection to us is already helping us design our next chapter through our aspirational design process. We have listened to your ideas and are incorporating your insights into our planning now and for the future, particularly in how we think about practicing the liberal arts and how we foster lifelong learning. The collective imagination and ingenuity of our remarkable community is the driving force that has sustained the Hamilton experience for centuries; that same force will shape Hamilton’s bright future.
While we live in a rapidly changing world and can’t know what the future will bring, we find, over and over again, our community holds us up and together. The Alumni Office strives to remind you of this through Glade & Glen, our in-person and virtual events, our volunteer opportunities, and all of our outreach channels.
Keep gathering, and keep sharing your stories, so we can look forward to many more years of Glade & Glen.
