Course Description:

A survey of fundamental concepts in education through historical and contemporary texts. We start by thinking about the goals of education, including knowledge, virtue, and skills. Next, we consider human capacities for learning before turning to the nature of learning and various approaches to teaching. Finally, we look at the relation between schools and society and consider how to design more effective institutions for learning. Knowledge and Education is a team-based learning class.
