Windows users can connect to the web server using Windows networking. This action will make your web space appear as a drive on your personal computer. This way, you can copy+paste files and folders to and from the web server,  or edit them directly on the server, just as you do for other drives on your system.

Map a Drive to Your Web Space

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. Right Click on This PC and select Map Network Drive...
  3. In the Folder field, type "\\canopus-fs.hamilton.edu\{Server Name}\{Folder Name}" and click Finish.

{Server Name} is the name of the server that you wish to connect to and should be one of the following:

students
people
courses
academics

{Folder Name} is the sub-folder that you wish to connect to, i.e, the web space you wish to edit.

For example, if you wish to edit the https://academics.hamilton.edu/Biology site, you will navigate to: \\canopus-fs.hamilton.edu\academics\Biology

The folder will now appear as a shared drive and is accessible from My Computer and Windows Explorer.

Troubleshooting

Please contact the Help Desk x4181 if you are having trouble connecting to your share.
