Minor VPN Changes

On Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 at 8:00 p.m., LITS will be performing maintenance on the Hamilton College’s internet connection. This maintenance will last approximately one hour, concluding around 9pm. Once this maintenance is completed there will be a minor change to your VPN connection process.
Duo two-factor authentication will be required for all VPN users now, students and employees, but the second password field currently used by Duo enabled accounts is going away. You will now log in to the VPN with only your Hamilton College username and password, and will no longer need to type in “push” as the second password. The system will then automatically trigger the Duo push notification. Users who use passcodes generated by the Duo app or hardware token can still access the VPN by adding a comma to the end of their password, followed by a Duo passcode.
Your Cisco AnyConnect VPN client will also be updated on your first connection to the VPN after this maintenance is completed. This may take an extra minute or two for this initial connection to complete, but should not require any additional user input.
