Student Health Requirements
The immunizations listed below are required for entry to Hamilton College. The submission process is detailed within the Student Patient Portal (Medicat).
Meningitis
- New York State law (Public Health Law 2167) requires us to distribute information about meningococcal disease and vaccination to all students. If you decide not to receive the meningococcal meningitis vaccine, you must sign the meningitis waiver in the Portal.
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
- All students enrolled in a New York State College must comply with New York State Public Health Law 2165. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the inability to attend classes and/or a registration hold.
- Measles: Two doses of live measles vaccine is required. The first dose must have been received no more than four (4) days prior to the student's first birthday and the 2nd dose no less than 28 days after the first dose. (MMR series fulfills this requirement.)
- Mumps: One dose of live mumps vaccine administered no more than four (4) days prior to the student's first birthday. (MMR series fulfills this requirement.)
- Rubella: One dose of live rubella vaccine administered no more than four (4) days prior to the student's first birthday. (MMR series fulfills this requirement.)
Tdap
- Hamilton College requires all new students to be vaccinated within the previous 10 years.

- Your HFC insurance waiver needs to be completed annually, typically the summer before each new academic year.
- The HFC insurance waiver link changes annually.
Hamilton requires that all enrolled students carry valid health insurance coverage. You must upload a copy of your insurance card (front and back) directly to the Student Patient Portal (Medicat). Please be sure to update this if there are any changes to your coverage.
Students who enroll at Hamilton will be billed an annual premium unless coverage is waived. The waiver process must be completed annually.
