Credit for Internships
Academic Credit for Internships is available to all students at Hamilton College.
If required by the employer (or wanted by the student), a quarter credit (1/4 credit) can be applied to any student completing an internship during the summer or during any semester enrolled at Hamilton. Steps for how to apply for and obtain this quarter credit is below.

Criteria
In order for a student to be eligible to receive credit for a specific internship experience, the following criteria must be met:

The student must complete and submit an application, including: 1) offer letter, and 2) approval by the department or program chair.
- The experience must involve a minimum of 50 hours of supervised work.
- The student and the employer must establish within the first week of the internship the specific responsibilities and duties the student must complete to fulfill the internship. This is usually included in the offer letter, but if not, it must be submitted separately in the application.
- The student must complete all the requirements of the internship and fully complete the agreed upon term of the internship in order to receive credit.
- The employer is expected to provide an evaluation of the student's performance following the completion of the internship via online form or PDF. Information is included in the email sent to the student at the start and end of the internship.
- After the internship is complete, you must submit a final statement in addition to the evaluation from your supervisor within 2 weeks of the internship end date in order to receive final credit.
