Joint Easter Service between Protestant Chapel Community at Hamilton
Easter Vigil/Holy Saturday
Beginning with an outdoor fire behind the Glen House with singing and worship at the beginning of the light dawning in the darkness. Candles transfer the light to the Christ candle upstairs in the chapel where volunteers pray and keep vigil over the flame all night until dawn.
Good Friday
Ecumenical Service, Outdoor Stations of the Cross: 14 stations of prayer, reflecting on moments of the crucifixion of Christ, carrying a cross to various locations around campus, beginning on the chapel steps around the main quad down Martin’s way by Beinecke and the Pub to the Root Glen and ending in the College Cemetery.

Remembrance of the Last Supper with foot washing, readings from the Tenebrae, and agape meal
Freedom Seder
Discussion of some texts and symbols of the Passover Seder and the Last Supper of Jesus and the significance of "the blood of the lamb" and the bread and wine, and the eating of foods representing the reality of slavery in Egypt -- bitter root of affliction, the salty tears, and the mortar used for forced building with bricks... and how do all these symbols point us to the way of freedom?

Join in this day of fasting, and sign off the meal plan. Doing so strengthens the contribution to our support of the Thea Bowman House in Utica, a non-profit dedicated to helping at-risk kids and their families. Also join in the prayer vigil which will go from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. when the fast will be broken by a celebratory community feast.
