 Lisa Trivedi.
Lisa Trivedi, the Christian A. Johnson Professor of Excellence in Teaching Professor of History, is the co-author of a three-year, $500,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to ASIANetwork, a scholarly society that serves 150 liberal arts colleges with Asian Studies programs.

The grant responds to the changing higher education landscape by underwriting a series of faculty development workshops subjects, including AI and Asian language teaching, and provides $5,000 student scholarships to support Asian language acquisition in summer intensive programs in the United States and Asia.

Madeleine La Cotera, Hamilton’s director of global learning said “This grant from the Henry Luce Foundation opens exciting new opportunities for our students to pursue immersive language study through ASIANetwork. By strengthening their linguistic and cultural fluency, our students will be better equipped to navigate an increasingly global professional landscape with confidence, adaptability, and a deeper understanding of the communities and partners they will engage throughout their careers.”

Hamilton is a member of ASIANetwork, and Trivedi is one of two Development Team officers. Jack Harris, professor emeritus of sociology (Hobart and William Smith Colleges), and Trivedi wrote the grant with Dan Choffnes, the executive director of ASIANetwork (Carthage College).
