"On Listening," a video essay by Pavitra Sundar, associate professor of literature, was featured in the 12th annual Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, which took place between August 19 and 23 in Middlebury, Vt.

Festival audiences also heard from Scott MacDonald, professor of cinema and media studies, who curated a selection of experimental films and video essays in a program titled "Films Made From Other Films: From the Avant-Garde to the Video Essay."

Guyot-Bender Curated Films at Maine International Film Festival

Martine Guyot-Bender curated a program of Cambodian films at the 28th Maine International Film Festival in Waterville, Maine. The selection featured five works from Cambodia’s emerging New Wave, ranging from shorts to feature-length films. Filmmaker and producer Kavich Neang traveled from Cambodia to present his acclaimed film Last Night I Saw You Smiling (2019).
