Amy Marvin
Assistant Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies Amy Marvin co-organized a free community screening of the film Lingua Franca (Isabel Sandoval, 2019) at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center in Buffalo, NY, on May 1.

The film was the first in a series called Trans Film / Trans Space focused on trans cinema. On July 10, the series will continue with The People’s Joker (Vera Drew, 2024). The screening was co-organized with Isobel Bess, Loren Pilcher, and Andrea Pitts, and was sponsored by the University at Buffalo’s Departments of Global Gender & Sexuality Studies and Comparative Literature.

Weiner Presents Conference Papers

Associate Professor of Classics Jesse Weiner presented several conference papers over the last two months. In March, he spoke at the annual meeting of the Classical Association of the Midwest and South in Mobile, Ala. Weiner was invited to be a panelist for a workshop on the politicization and polarization of the discipline of classical studies.
