In this, the centennial year of hockey on College Hill, Hamilton is rallying to support Clinton, N.Y., in its campaign to be designated “Hockeyville USA.” Clinton is one of four U.S. communities vying for the grand prize in the 2018 Kraft Hockeyville competition. A victory means $150,000 to refurbish the Clinton Arena, plus the chance to host a National Hockey League preseason game.

The Hamilton in NYC Program visited the Department of City Planning and heard from Director of Waterfront and Open Space Planning Michael Marella on March 28. He spoke about the role of the department in building the coastal resiliency of the city to naturally caused crises, such as extreme weather events related to climate change like Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Community Outreach and Opportunity Project (COOP) joined forces this month to volunteer at local organizations for the D-III Week of Service, a conference-wide community service competition. The goal was to gather as many hours of service as possible from April 2 to April 8. Hamilton had 128 athletes participate, and they amassed 300 hours of hands-on volunteer service during the seven-day event.

Back in the science classrooms that they had frequented not that long ago, four alumnae returned to campus for a “What I Did with My Major in Neuroscience and Psychology” panel. Hosted by the Career Center in collaboration with the Psychology Department on April 9, the event attracted 40 interested students and was followed by a networking reception.
