The Hamilton Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa recently elected 18 members of the Class of 2021: Honor Allen, Cameron Blair, Jiaheng Cai, Ruth Coolidge, Sophie Cote, Lily Delle-Levine, Julia Dupuis, Benjamin Gardner, Amy Harff, Erica Ivins, Michael Kim, Margaret Merz, Charlotte Miller, Francesca Parson, Sarah Pierpont, Catherine Ryczek, Holly Sauer, and Amalia Tobias.

Hamilton’s inaugural ALEX (Advise, Learn, EXperience) advisors are preparing to launch the new program that links advising, academic support, and experiential learning. The advisors are Dean of Engaged Education Kathy Wolfe, Kevin Alexander ’13, Janine Oliver, and Hannah Stubley ’12.

For the 11th consecutive year, Hamilton has been named a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Top Producing Institution. Hamilton had 27 applicants for the 2020-21 academic year application cycle, including one alum. Fourteen students were named semi-finalists, 10 received the grant, and two were selected as alternates.

Fr. Peter (Boutros) El Hachem will serve the Hamilton community this semester as Catholic chaplain. He is the pastor at St. Louis Gonzaga Maronite Church in Utica, where he’s been administrator since 2019, having come to the U.S. from his native Lebanon.

The Hamilton College Town-Gown Fund honored one of its original committee members by making a $5,000 grant to the Country Pantry in his memory.

Last fall, the College-Community Partnership for Racial Justice assembled a series of eight webinars focused on racial equity and police reform, sponsored by the Levitt Center Law and Justice Lab. Since then, the Partnership has collected and organized data from multiple surveys aimed at gauging public opinion on these issues. The results of these surveys were discussed in a virtual town hall on Feb. 11.
