More than 50 Hamilton students are forgoing warm beaches and powdery slopes to lend a hand to others through the 25th annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB). ASB is a volunteer venture that consists of five different community service trips this year.

Six students were awarded prizes in three categories in the annual Public Speaking Competition on Saturday, March 3, in the Chapel. The finalists were chosen after an open preliminary round held in February. Speakers’ presentations were either persuasive or informative in nature, and in one category, students addressed an assigned topic.

Two Hamilton faculty members were approved for tenure by the College’s Board of Trustees during the March meeting. The board granted tenure to Abhishek Amar and Quincy Newell, both of the Religious Studies department. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Monk Rowe, the Joe Williams Director of the Jazz Archive and Lecturer in Music Performance (Saxophone) will be honored with the 2018 Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYs) Music Educator of the Year award on March 2.

More than 45 students were matched with alumni and parents for a day of job shadowing during their winter break. The Career Center provides participants with an excellent opportunity to learn about a career area as well as make professional connections with alumni and parents.
