The Seward House was the home of prominent politician William Henry Seward and his wife, Frances Seward. While William was in Albany or Washington, D.C., for his work, Frances led abolitionist activities from her home. It is believed that the basement of the Seward House was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Through her abolitionist work, she forged a close friendship with Harriet Tubman, who lived in Auburn as well. Frances also worked to gain property rights for women in New York and contributed to the women's suffrage movement.

HEALTHCARE AND PUBLIC HEALTH IN THESE CHALLENGING TIMES
Kirner-Johnson 125, Bradford Auditorium
The organization and financing of healthcare in America has been controversial ever since the progressive era. Our healthcare system is dealing with the legacy of COVID-19, a decline in trust in government, and a future of uncertainty about government policy and funding. Today, only 40% of us have a lot of confidence in the U.S. healthcare system. All of this comes when we have had great innovation in new and promising treatments that also result in sticker shock for consumers who are coping with ever-increasing deductibles and other purchaser strategies to try to limit healthcare costs. Joe Konen ’75 and Marianne Udow-Phillips K’75 will discuss the current state, possible paths forward, and critical policy options. This event is sponsored by the Hamilton and Kirkland Classes of 1975 and is open to all.

Compassion & Choices educates, advocates, and assists terminally ill adults to understand and pursue the option of using the Washington's Death with Dignity Law to obtain prescriptions for lethal medicines to short-circuit the end. These games are suited to all age groups and skill levels, and participants can come from any martial arts background, or none at all. If attendees have martial arts uniforms, they are welcome to wear them, or come in sweatpants and sweatshirts with no zippers. Please wear shoes to the class so that when we get onto the mat, your bare feet are clean. All aged 8 and older are welcome to participate (children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian; the parent/guardian does not need to participate, but must remain for the duration of the event). This activity starts with a light warmup and progresses to games teaching body control and how to fall safely.
