Latin Ball

On Friday, October 10, 2025, students danced the night away at La Vanguardia’s (LV) Annual Latin Ball. That beautiful Friday night, the laughter and music filled the Annex as students gathered in celebration of Latin American cultures and identity. LV collaborated with BLSU, ASU, and GSU to transport students to La Ciudad de Mexico (CDMX). CDMX remains one of the most diverse cities and well traveled cities in the world - engaging the whole DMC!
Upon entering the Annex, all five senses immediately activated with the erupted celebration - from music and food, to decoration and activities. Color abounded.
Florals and colorful balloons immediately transformed the space into an explosion of light and joy. The collaborating clubs decorated tables with different district themes. ASU created the table Barrio Cino, representing Chinatown. GSU hosted Zona Rosa, or Pink Zone, the most LBGTQIA+ friendly district. Art and flowers defined Coyoacán, the art district with a heavy Frida Kahlo influence. Friendly, yet fierce competition emerged at the game table as students played Loteria. Adorable lily pads and inflatable axolotls transported students into a Xochilmilco - the floating gardens where axolotls live.
On the dance floor, students sang and danced to Perdóname (feat. DyCy & Adrian Delgado), El Listón De Tu Pelo by Los Ángeles Azules, and Payaso de Rodeo by Caballo Dorado. The fan-favorite mechanical bull induced rounds of laughter as students held on tight to the bucking bull. Students giggled within the photobooth, emerging with souvenirs documenting their fun night.
The smells of exquisite, empanadas, tacos, and flan floated around the Annex. Students enjoyed the food and kept their energy up - for more dancing! Andrea Jivanny Hernandez Ramirez (‘27) summarized the night explaining that “the theme is a reflection of collaboration within our ecosystem.”
Well done LV, BLSU, ASU, and GSU - an unforgettable night!
