Happy Summer! The DMC celebrated the sunny weather with an end of semester celebration Thursday, April 30th. La Vanguardia (LV), Black and Latine Student Union (BLSU), and Gender and Sexuality Union (GSU) joined forces to bring campus together to celebrate the coming of May, the end of the spring semester, and the strong sense of community the DMC ecosystem has fostered throughout the academic year. Students, faculty, and staff gathered for a remix of BLSU’s annual end of year bash, made special this year with meaningful collaborations with other DMC student organizations. The event reflected on a semester full of collaboration and memories. The lively atmosphere made the celebration a fitting way to close out the year before summer break began.
Festivities began with gelato, mocktails, and catering from K-Dogs BBQ. Attendees spilled out from the DMC onto the lawn, where tables quickly filled with conversation and laughter. Music played throughout the evening as students mingled, creating an inviting and energetic environment. Student organizers provided games and music as students mixed with faculty and staff.
At 6:30pm, two of Hamilton’s acapella groups took to the mic, energizing the crowd with senior solos and fun group numbers. GSU, who joined the collaboration only a week before the event, rallied The Buffers and Duelly Noted to play for the event. The groups serenaded a packed DMC, drawing cheers and applause from attendees gathered around. Their performances served as a celebratory finale to the evening and captured the joyful spirit of the event. By the time the celebration came to a close, the gathering had been a tremendous success, a meaningful opportunity for students to strengthen connections, celebrate the accomplishments of the semester, and welcome the coming of summer together. For all of the ups and downs of the year, the campus was able to find community with each other this year, evident in the joy created by the togetherness of this incredible collaboration.
