Dia de los Muertos

¡Feliz Día de los Muertos! This November 1st, La Vanguardia hosted a celebration of the lives and memories of those who have passed with a day of food and community. Secretary Carol Daquilema ‘28 and her parents worked all morning to create colada morada, a warm Ecuadorian drink, served alongside pan de muerto! 

Attendees chatted and laughed over decorated sugar skull cookies, enjoying the celebratory sweets of the holiday. Students were also able to send in photos of their loved ones, which they placed in hand-painted frames and placed on a stunningly decorated ofrenda.

The holiday, centered around the celebration of those who have passed, reunites campus members with their loved ones for 2 special days. Thank you to La Vanguardia for providing the space and community to celebrate this time-honored tradition!
