The Toomajian Family Washington Internship Fund
The Toomajian Family Washington Internship Fund was established by William M. Toomajian, Class of 1965, and provides cost of living expenses for Hamilton students pursuing a summer internship in Washington D.C.
Originally from Troy, N.Y., William “Bill” Toomajian majored in government and graduated with honors from Hamilton College in 1965. He went on to receive a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School and Master of Laws from New York University Law School. Bill served for three years as a law specialist in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. He practiced law in New York City and Cleveland, Ohio until his retirement in 2014, when he moved to the Washington D.C. area.
Bill credits Hamilton with providing a strong foundation for his career and broadening his interest in music, art and literature, resulting in a lifetime of enjoyment. After witnessing the pivotal role that Hamilton’s Washington Program and internships played for his son Philip M. Toomajian, Class of 2001, and others, he established this Fund to encourage Hamilton students to learn more about a potential career in government and public policy through internships in Washington.
Please note: The named scholarships profiled on these pages support the College’s generous need-based financial aid commitment. These donor-funded scholarships help ensure the Hamilton promise of keeping education affordable through meeting a student’s full demonstrated financial need.
