The Monica Inzer Scholarship

Led by initial gifts from Dan Rifkin ’88 and Kevin Kennedy ’70, with additional gifts committed by trustees and other friends, The Monica Inzer Scholarship was established in recognition of Monica’s significant impact on the trajectory of Hamilton College during her 20 years as Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Monica joined the Hamilton community in 2004. In 2007 she was the driving force to eliminate merit aid and to direct those resources to help socio-economically challenged students access a Hamilton education. In 2010, she successfully advocated for Hamilton to become need-blind in order to attract and support the best possible students. Several years later she worked with colleagues to establish the Student Emergency Aid Society (SEAS). Her efforts further enriched the Hamilton community by increasing enrollment by students of color and students who are the first in their families to attend college. And in 2023, as the U.S. Supreme Court removed the question of race from the Common App, Monica led the Admission Office staff in rethinking essay prompts and recruitment activities to encourage and maintain a diverse pool of qualified applicants for consideration.

During her time at Hamilton, Monica came to be recognized as one of the best enrollment managers in the country and was regularly invited by high schools, community organizations and professional associations to speak about admission, financial aid, parent and college access topics. Her expertise also made her a frequent contributor to higher ed journals and national media outlets.
