The Linda E. Romano and Russell J. Petralia Family Scholarship

The Linda E. Romano and Russell J. Petralia Family Scholarship was established by Linda E. Romano and Russell J. Petralia. It is awarded to students demonstrating financial need, with preference given to those majoring or minoring in music.

Linda E. Romano and her husband Russell "Russ" J. Petralia established this scholarship in 2022 in honor of Linda's father, F. Eugene Romano, Hamilton Class of 1949. Gene, an accomplished self-taught pianist, is a Hamilton College benefactor who has established scholarships for students from the Mohawk Valley and also funded the F. Eugene Romano Theater at Hamilton.

Linda is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College and a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School. In addition to serving as General Counsel for various Romano family enterprises, she is of counsel to Syracuse, N.Y. law firm Bond, Schoeneck and King, and is an independent director of the Utica National Insurance Company. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her distinguished business and legal career, including in 2018, the "Woman of Distinction" honor from the New York State Senate. In addition, Linda is an active volunteer in the Mohawk Valley, serving as a trustee for over 30 years and today as an emeritus trustee of Utica University. She also serves as co-chair of the capital campaign to fund a new hospital in Utica, where she has been instrumental in securing the $50 million naming gift for the project.

Russ is a graduate of The College at Brockport, State University of New York with a degree in economics. He is President of Ashford Management Group, Inc., a real estate investment firm specializing in the acquisition and development of income producing properties and also serves as a trustee of Utica University. In memory of his parents, Russ and Linda established an endowed scholarship for a trumpet player at the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music.
