Dear Hamilton Staff,
I wanted you to see a letter sent to faculty a few days ago.
Congratulations on a great year.

Dear Hamilton Faculty,
I am writing to provide an update on the dean of faculty reappointment. After carefully reviewing extensive feedback from you and from those who work directly in the Dean of Faculty Office, I am pleased to announce that Ngoni Munemo’s term as provost and dean of faculty will be extended for another five years.
Almost all faculty members who provided input support reappointment, as does the joint committee of COA and CAP, which reviewed all letters as well as quantitative and qualitative survey data. I want to extend my appreciation to the subcommittee for the care and time they took with this review.
From your feedback, it is clear that you value Ngoni’s commitment to your wellbeing, evidenced by his support for a more robust family leave policy, HART funds, and his approach to professional development. You describe him as a good listener who is transparent, fair, patient, and who keeps the good of the whole community in mind when making decisions. It is also clear that you value his commitment to building community -- hosting drinks and dinner at his house, supporting faculty gatherings at the Pub, lunch at Bristol, faculty library lunch talks, all-faculty retreats, and teaching and research groups. Under Ngoni's leadership, we have raised money for new professorships, joined NECHE for accreditation, and successfully completed our Aspirational Design process, resulting in significant trustee support to invest in innovative teaching and learning.
Finally, many of you describe Ngoni as thoughtful, approachable, reasonable and, most importantly, “a good human.”
As president, I can attest that he is a fierce advocate for you and your role in shared governance. I feel confident he will continue to lead us with discernment and care and help us secure our promise and deliver our future as the most important liberal arts college in the world.
I remain open to feedback on all and every aspect of the College and our leadership team, and this review has provided Ngoni and me with productive areas for improvement. I am excited to work with Ngoni and all of you in the years ahead.
Onward,
Steven
