Yuwen Michelson ’17 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Laos. A sociology concentrator, she served as a volunteer English teacher through Global Vision International in Laos during summer, 2014.
In 2016 Michelson studied in Hamilton’s Program in New York City and interned at Quill.org, a web-based literacy tool that provides personalized, interactive writing lessons for middle school and high school students. She continued her internship there through summer 2016 as operations associate.
At Hamilton she has been a researcher in the Sociology Department, a member of the Women’s Indoor & Outdoor Track Team and of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. Michelson was named to NESCAC’s All-Academic teams in 2014 and 2015. She also served as youth program coordinator for Hamilton’s Chaplaincy, was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and worked on the College’s Organic Vegetable Farm.

The Fulbright ETA Program places U.S. students as English teaching assistants in schools or universities overseas, thus improving foreign students’ English language abilities and knowledge of the United States while increasing their own language skills and knowledge of the host country.
