Hamilton has announced an additional participant for the technology and business discussion featuring the chairmen and CEOs of Goldman Sachs and Tulco on Tuesday, March 12.
Julia La Roche, senior writer and on-air reporter for Yahoo Finance, will moderate the event titled “Driving Innovation and Entrepreneurship with Technology.”
The free program begins at 7 p.m. in Wellin Hall and features David Solomon of Goldman Sachs and Thomas Tull of Tulco, the Pittsburgh-based investment-holding company. Tull and Solomon are Hamilton graduates and members of the College’s Board of Trustees. The event is open to the public. No tickets are required.

La Roche’s on-camera interviews include Starbucks chairman emeritus Howard Schultz, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio, DoubleLine Capital CEO Jeffrey Gundlach, Pershing Square Capital CEO Bill Ackman, former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, Alibaba vice chairman Joe Tsai, and many more. She studied broadcast journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she competed on the university’s equestrian team. Outside of work, La Roche is a member of the NYC Parks Enforcement Patrol Mounted Auxiliary.
Before assuming his current roles, Solomon was president and chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs, having served the company previously as co-head of the Investment Banking Division from 2006 to 2016. He also served as global head of the Financing Group, which offers a range of capital markets and derivatives products and services for the firm’s corporate clients.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs as a partner in 1999, Solomon held leadership roles at Irving Trust Company, Drexel Burnham, and Bear Stearns. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Hamilton College and is on the board of The Robin Hood Foundation. He earned his bachelor’s degree in government from Hamilton in 1984.
Tull, who grew up in Binghamton, is founder, chairman, and CEO of Tulco. He serves on the MIT School of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council and sits on the boards of Hamilton College, Carnegie Mellon University, the Motion Picture Television Fund, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the National Football Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Players Tribune. He is entrepreneur-in-residence at the Harvard Business School and part of the six-time Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers ownership group.
Tull graduated from Hamilton in 1992 and was awarded an honorary degree in 2013. He was previously founder, CEO, and chairman of the board of Legendary Entertainment, where he produced and executive-produced more than 40 films that together grossed more than $13 billion worldwide at the box office, including Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla, Jurassic World, the Dark Knight trilogy, The Town, Inception, and the Hangover franchise.
