University Business magazine recently highlighted Hamilton’s wellness program in an article addressing the challenge colleges face to contain costs while providing expected health insurance benefits. The June article, titled Healthcare: Insurance Policy Challenges, quoted Vice President for Administration and Finance Karen Leach.
The magazine outlined two major strategies that colleges may use to control cost: shifting costs to employees or implementing creative healthcare approaches. Hamilton was featured in the latter category.
The college’s wellness committee, Hamtrek, annual health fair, lunch-hour speaker program, free health screenings and flu shot clinics, free access to wellness coaching and personal trainers, fitness classes and massage therapists available at reduced cost were highlighted.
