Ntokozo Xaba '08 (South Africa) worked on the recently published The Africa Journal, a publication released quarterly by the Corporate Council on Africa's South African International Business Linkages program that provides a synopsis of important trade policy and political developments in Africa. Xaba published a section within the publication titled "U.S.-Africa Sister City Relationships."
Xaba, a public policy and foreign languages major, spent the spring semester in Washington, D.C. with Hamilton's Program in Washington interning with the Corporate Council on Africa, which is the leading American nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing trade and investment ties between the United States and the 53 countries of Africa. Xaba's main project was to "find out about business that affects our members," he said, by researching news on current African economics and business. Xaba used the results of his research to write the article in The Africa Journal, which includes news about American-African sister cities and events in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Michigan and Virginia and news about African companies, such as "Kulula.com to challenge SAA with cut-price flights to Zambia."
Xaba is leaving for South Africa in late June, where he will meet with members of the Council and attend meetings with the South African business members. After graduating from Hamilton, Xaba hopes to return to Washington to work for the Council. "I would like to be part of the foreign trade policy that is being formed," said Xaba.
