Michael Klosson ’71, former U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus and director of relief operations of Save the Children, will present a lecture on “Children and the Refugee Crisis” on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 4:15 p.m., in the Bradford Auditorium, KJ. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Klosson holds his M.P.A. and M.A. from Princeton University. Previous to his work with Save the Children, Klosson was a career Foreign Service officer. In addition to serving as U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus, he was U.S. Consul General to Hong Kong, principal deputy assistant secretary for legislative affairs, deputy chief of mission in Stockholm and The Hague, and ambassador ad interim to the Netherlands and Sweden.
He currently serves as vice president for policy and humanitarian response and has represented Save the Children at international conferences ranging from the G8, G20, to the United Nations. During his time at the Save the Children, Klosson has overseen the organization’s response to various international crisis including the West Africa Ebola outbreak, the Syrian Civil War, and the Haiti earthquake.
