At the invitation of Indian textile artist Shelly Jyoti, Professor of History Lisa Trivedi recently presented during a virtual event titled “Epoch 2020: Relevance of Gandhi in Present Tense.” Trivedi has collaborated with Jyoti for five years.
In her talk, Trivedi addressed the continuities between the current pandemic and the 1918 global influenza pandemic through which Gandhi lived, as well as lessons to be drawn from his example and his politics.
Organized by Baroda University’s Forum for Contemporary Theory and New Delhi’s National Institute of Fashion Technology, the event was sponsored by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.
