Director of the Wellin Museum of Art Tracy Adler, along with the museum, were recently elected to active membership in the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD).
The AAMD serves as a forum for the exchange of information and exploration of new ideas, and as a voice with which directors may express their collective concerns. It currently represents more than 200 directors of some of the largest institutions in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
According to the AAMD website, membership “is based on the qualifications of both the individual director and the specific art museum.” Since its founding in 1916, the organization’s purpose has been to aid its members in establishing and maintaining professional standards for themselves and the museums they represent.
Commenting on the Wellin’s membership, Adler said, “I am proud to say that this is an endorsement of the museum’s professionalism and its standing in the field.”
