As we welcome new and returning members of our community back to College Hill, we want to offer a glimpse into what campus has been up to these past few months while many have been away. Here’s a sampling of new spaces, new faces, renamed buildings, major moves, and more.

A new state-of-the-art facility equipped with best-in-class technology and resources will soon serve as the launchpad for the College’s multi-faceted digital fluency initiative, Digital Hamilton, and transform the academic experience on College Hill.

At the annual Class & Charter Day convocation on May 7, 158 students were honored with academic prizes and scholarships, and faculty teaching award recipients were recognized. Among top awards, Quinn Brown ’24, received the James Soper Merrill Prize, and Josef Kubofcik ’25 received the Fillius Drown Prize Scholarship.

In its second meeting of the 2022-23 academic year, the Hamilton chapter of Phi Beta Kappa elected 15 members of the Class of 2023.

The new Middle East/Islamicate Worlds Studies concentration evolved from a popular minor at Hamilton, and its revised program name illustrates just one of the ways it differs from majors offered elsewhere.

Beginning with the Class of 2023, Hamilton students who graduate with a concentration in economics will be classified as STEM majors, a move that will enhance the college experience and post-graduate opportunities for international students.

Each summer, Opportunity Programs welcomes to campus a cohort of incoming students for an intensive academic college transition program. The newest group, members of the Class of 2022, arrived on campus on July 1.

Angelique Archer and William Benthem de Grave, both members of the Class of 2020, share dual passions — economics and theatre — and found a way to develop them both, in part because Hamilton has an open curriculum.
