Hamilton College received an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Hockey Championship. The Continentals will take on Oswego State on Saturday, March 11, at the Utica Aud. This is the Continentals' first trip to the NCAA men's hockey championship.

FebFest 2017 offered something for everyone... even snow. As a heavy snow blanketed the area on Sunday night many students took part in the Outing Club’s moonlight snowshoe through Root Glen to kick off the week's festivities.

Aidan Costello ’20 took home the title and Alternative Spring Break (ASB) got the proceeds in the annual FebFest Mr. Hamilton competition. ASB received $470 to use for upcoming week-long service trips to non-profit organizations.

Competition was heated in the Field House on Feb. 11 and it wasn’t a NESCAC athletic contest. The Inter-Society Council (ISC) hosted a philanthropy event "Charity FUN(d) Fest,” that raised $4,000 for Planned Parenthood, Be The Match, No One Left Behind, and the Midtown Utica Community Center.

Hamilton was well-represented at a Refugee Solidarity Rally in Utica on Feb. 10. The rally was organized as a way to stand in solidarity with the refugee population in Utica, and with those around the world affected by recent national events.

Hamilton’s proximity to the Adirondacks enabled Professor Ernest Williams to hold an on-site lesson for students in Environmental Studies 220, Forever Wild: The Cultural and Natural Histories of the Adirondack Park on Feb. 4.

Twenty-six students from Hamilton, Grinnell, Scripps, Williams, Bryn Mawr, Reed and Amherst College recently visited the Spanish Region of Andalusia as part of the HCAYS orientation trip to start the semester.

Hamilton’s men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as hockey and squash are getting great fan support for their home contests this semester.

Some 40 students, faculty and administrators gathered in the Fillius Events Barn on Jan. 28 for a new event, Teach the Teacher, to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Phyllis Breland, Director of Opportunity Programs and Interim Director of Diversity and Inclusion, said the purpose of the event was “to bring to the forefront some of the other messages and passions of MLK…. (his) support of creativity, taking care of one another, and youth working with elders so that both can contribute to a better future.”

Matt Zeller ’04 published an op-ed on President Trump’s executive order and immigration ban in the Washington Post on Jan. 28. In “Trump shuts the door on men and women who have sacrificed for America,” Zeller wrote that the order “shut the door on thousands of foreign interpreters, our wartime allies, who have served alongside our military since 2001.
