  • Since its formal dedication at Fallcoming in October, 2006, The Charlean and Wayland Blood Fitness and Dance Center has established itself as the hub of campus fitness and wellness activities.

  • The Social Traditions Committee and the men’s hockey team joined forces to host a date auction on Nov. 30 with proceeds going to charity.

  • Maurice Isserman, the James L. Ferguson Professor of History, was quoted in a Nov. 27 Chronicle of Higher Education article about a national campaign of student debt refusal. In “Debt Protesters Denounce Colleges for Broken Promises,” Isserman said the Occupy Wall Street movement has rubbed off on college students, who have taken the protest in their own direction.

  • David LaGuardia, professor of French and comparative literature at Dartmouth College and Hamilton’s scholar in residence, will give a lecture “Two Queens, a Dog, and a Purloined Letter:  on Memory as a Discursive Phenomenon in Late Renaissance France,”  on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 4:15 p.m., in KJ 102.

  • Amit Taneja, director of the Days-Massolo Center, has been honored with a Peace Studies award from The Central New York Peace Studies Board and Peace Studies Conference Committee.  He received the award at the organization’s 23rd annual conference on Nov. 12 in Syracuse.

  • On the Hill: A Bicentennial History of Hamilton College marks the occasion of Hamilton’s 200th anniversary in 2012.  Written by James L. Ferguson Professor of History Maurice Isserman, it is the first official and full-scale history of the College to be published since 1962, the year of its sesquicentennial. This slide show features some photos from the 400-page book, highlighting important events in the College’s history.

  • Hamilton President Joan Hinde Stewart was among participants in the Association of Yale Alumni annual assembly on Nov. 17.   Stewart, who received her Ph.D. from Yale in 1970, was a panelist on “Doctorates Without Borders,” a discussion of the challenges facing graduate school alumni in the 21st century and leadership opportunities within and beyond academia for Ph.D. degree recipients.

  • Professor of Art History Rand Carter was honored with a Distinguished Service/Lifetime Achievement Award by the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica at its annual meeting and banquet on Nov. 17.
