Event Description
Hamilton College will have the opportunity to see an extraordinary celestial event this Tuesday, March 3, beginning at 4:50 a.m. – a full lunar eclipse. From 4:50 a.m. until 6:04 a.m., the moon will slowly be covered in the earth's shadow. The full eclipse will begin at 6:04 a.m. The moon will turn a deep red color called a blood moon, lingering until the moon sets around 6:30 a.m. It will probably be partly cloudy that morning, so there will be many chances to see the moon during all of the phases of the eclipse. If you are interested in viewing the eclipse through a telescope, please join us at our eclipse viewing party. We will be gathered on the west side of the Taylor Science Center, just off of Loop Road, on the Hamilton campus. The event will start at 4:45 a.m. and will continue until the moon is no longer visible. We will have our 4" Meade telescopes and 8" Celestron telescopes set to view the moon through all phases of the eclipse. We hope to see you there!
