The Oneida Community: From Free Love Community to the Well Set Table

Ellen Wayland-Smith, a descendant of the community, offers a personal and familial perspective on the community's history and its eventual rejection of its founding principles.

Her book chronicles the history of the Oneida Community, a 19th-century religious sect known for its radical ideas on communal living, free love, and eugenics, and its transformation into the successful, middle-class silverware company, Oneida Ltd.
