Douglas Edwards
Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy
Douglas Edwards, who taught at Hamilton previously, works in a variety of philosophical areas, including truth, reality, the good life, Eastern philosophy, sport, and pro wrestling. He is the author of the books Properties (Polity, 2014), The Metaphysics of Truth (Oxford University Press, 2018), Philosophy Smackdown (Polity, 2020), and numerous journal articles. The Metaphysics of Truth was awarded the American Philosophical Association's Sanders Book Prize in 2019. Edwards is the editor of Truth: A Contemporary Reader (Bloomsbury, 2019), and is an associate editor of the journal Analysis. He is currently writing a book titled Detachment as a Way of Life: A Philosophical Guide to Letting Go, which is scheduled to be published by Bloomsbury in 2027. Edwards has also taught at University College Dublin, the University of Aberdeen, and Utica University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews.
