Daniel Fields
Lecturer in Music (voice)
Daniel Fields is a versatile performer and voice instructor whose work spans classical repertoire, contemporary opera, jazz, rock, and R&B.
An advocate for new music, Fields has appeared in numerous productions with Central New York’s Society for New Music, including roles in Charles Lupia’s Home Burial, Charles Fussell’s The Astronaut’s Tale, and Judith Sainte Croix’s How Music Came to the Earth. In traditional repertoire, he has performed in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande with the University of Southern California, Strauss’s Die Fledermaus with Syracuse University, and with Geneva Light Opera.
In jazz and contemporary music, Fields has performed with CNY Jazz Arts Foundations and the International Musicians League.
Fields’ teaching is rooted in bel canto and integrates somatic awareness and motor learning principles informed by mindfulness and yoga. His mentors include Neva Pilgrim, Lynn Helding, Michael Trimble, and Marcus Haddock.
