Alicia Luhrssen-Zombek
Lecturer in Environmental Studies
Alicia Luhrssen-Zombek holds a B.I.D. in industrial design from Pratt Institute and an M.S. in sustainable science from the University of Massachusetts. Her work focuses on building a movement toward food sovereignty, food justice, and food democracy with current work regarding diverse farms. Luhrssen-Zombek’s interests include the Utica Somali Bantu Community Farm, Mohawk Valley Latino Association’s future permaculture garden, the Black Women's Blueprint Restore Forward project, and as an ally for New York State’s local indigenous communities.
As a practicing regenerative farmer certified in soil science, Luhrssen-Zombek set forth practices that increase biodiversity, enrich soils, improves watersheds, and enhances ecosystems. She is currently farming outside of Clinton, N.Y.
