Ringing the NYSE Closing Bell to celebrate Bicentennial
Hamilton College visits the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and rings the NYSE Closing Bell to celebrate the College’s 200th anniversary.

Bicentennial Week Celebrated — Hamilton College Turned 200 on May 26, 2012

Many organizations joined in the celebration:

  • Tuesday, May 15: U.S. Rep. Richard L. Hanna (R-NY) sponsored a statement in the Congressional Record.
  • Tuesday, May 22: U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand read a resolution into the Congressional Record honoring the College.
  • Wednesday, May 23: The New York State Senate passed a resolution recognizing Hamilton’s anniversary sponsored by Senator Joseph Griffo and co-sponsored by Senator David Valesky.
  • Thursday, May 24: Hamilton representatives rang the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange. [Photos]
  • Thursday, May 24: U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand introduced a resolution to commemorate the 200th anniversary and to celebrate the College’s sustained commitment to its charter.
  • Wednesday, May 30: Kirkland, the town in which Hamilton is located, issued a proclamation acknowledging the College’s 200th anniversary.

All-Alumni Bicentennial Reunion

What a grand celebration it was! More than 2,000 alumni and guests gathered on College Hill for Reunions ’12 to toast Hamilton's 200th birthday. The festivities included Bicentennial Colleges, receptions, dinners, musical and sporting events, as well as plenty of opportunities to renew ties with friends. View photos on Facebook.

Bicentennial Kickoff Celebration

It was a celebration for the ages! More than 3,000 alumni, family members, students, and members of the Hamilton and local communities gathered Sept. 22-25, 2011, for a special Bicentennial Assembly, the dedication of the Edward and Virginia Taylor Science Center, a performance of the opening number of the musical Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda, more than 30 Bicentennial Colleges and campus tours, the opening of an 1871 time capsule, the inauguration of a monthly “Hands on Hamilton History” library exhibit, and Career Center networking sessions, along with great sporting events, performances, and food.
