Founded in 2012, the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art at Hamilton College is a teaching museum that provides access to the museum’s collection for use by students, faculty, and researchers as part of its program. The Wellin’s collection includes 7,100 works of art and artifacts, representing a broad range of cultures, historical periods, artistic practices, and movements. Many objects in the Wellin’s holdings are part of Hamilton College’s long history and have been used as objects of study for generations; the collection continues to grow with an emphasis on contemporary art and historical worlds that deepen, strengthen and diversify its existing offerings.
The Wellin Museum’s online catalog is often updated with additional artworks and to reflect new scholarship. Visitors are encouraged to return to the site frequently.
